Open Question: Auto insurance Question — Help, please!?
Hi there
Between now and summer, I am getting a new car. It will be either a 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe or a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe. I am currently insured under my father’s insurance (Statefarm) with good student discount. Him and I being the only two drivers in the house (two vehicles). Since I’ve had two tickets in the last 12 months and have been in an accident 2.5 years ago (it will be cleared in April 2011), would I obtain a better insurance quote if my dad told them that the car is going to be bought for my mom, whom doesn’t drive but has her license? Like would they find out (or even care) who’s going to drive the car and would that make any difference rather than having my dad co-sign the car for me?
She’s never driven before so obviously has no driving record, but her driver’s license is valid. My rate currently is $600/6 months, and since the car that I’m going to get will be a 2 door sport car, the rate will go up to $1300/6 months, which is a little bit too much. Any tips on getting the lowest rate possible would be appreciated, thanks!
Additional Info: I’m almost 21, female and reside in Minnesota. Had my license for 3.5 years.
The current rate is $600/6 months is for reliability only.
With the new car, I’m going to take out a loan and mostly likely the dealer will want full coverage, which will be around $1,300/6 months.
Resolved Question: How much is car insurance for a 16 year old girl in texas?
I’m going to be driving a ford I think f150 the year is no later than 2004.
I know they have discounts for students with good grades.
My gpa is above a 4.650.
I need the cheapest I can get.
Because aside from managing insurance on this vehicle.
I will need to put money aside to purchase a different vehicle. (I’m borrowing the truck, but must pay my own insurance.)
And battle school.
I won’t make a lot of money, so I have to try with what I will have.
Resolved Question: I got in traffic accident, I was rear ended, other vehicle had no insurance. What do I do?
I got rear ended about a month ago, I was in a complete stop on a red light and an unissued truck ran into me while they were eating a cheeseburger!
No visible cosmetic damage on rear bumper but, its a Honda Accord and they just pop out as soon as they are bumped. There might be structure damage but… probably just minimal if any.
Called the police, and he got really mad and cussed a few times. I didn’t listen to him. Just waited for the police to come, He failed to provide insurance and was sited for not doing so and also got sited for the accident.
This guy started freaking out and got really mad when I called the police. He started saying the “F” word a few times.
I got the police report from the police department. He had no insurance!! What a surprise.
My neck started hurting more and more as days went by (greatest pain around day 5), I had a few meetings where I had to look to my side for 20-60 minutes and it was brutal! I had troubles looking to the sides of my car before turning because of the pain. Can site and look at the computer without having my neck to hurt.
I don’t have health insurance but do have a discount for some health centers. So I vised my doctor 4 days after, said that it most likely not serious and it should just fade away withing 1-3 weeks. Recommended that I take over the counter medicine. Also Said if pain is too great after a week should reschedule another appointment and get x rays. payed a copay of 15.00 and drove back home (1hr drive to see my doc)
Now, after a month my necks gets a dual pain in the bottom of my neck. This happens most when I sit in my computer to do homework. I never had this problem before. I am a college student and sitting in front of a computer is not something you can avoid.
Key things:
Got rear ended – I was never at fault
Other person FAILED to show insurance
My neck hurts (from 0-10 it hurts around 2-3)
I don’t have health insurance – had from parents but they lost work
I don’t have uninsured coverage in my insurance policy.
I am a college student – don’t know much about this stuff
What should I do?
I ask because people have been telling me to file a law suite! But I just don’t have a clue
The person was going around 10mph when he hit my car. not dramatic but enough to cause damage to a person’s neck.
I live in Colorado
