Open Question: Cost maintaining BMW Z4 vs. Porsche Boxster S?
Any personal experiences? I’m thinking of either getting a 2005 BMW Z4 or 2005 Porsche Boxster S. I would like some insight as to how much it costs for maintenance and insurance for these two convertibles.
If you’re an owner of one of these cars, some personal experiences as owners would be great too! Were there any mechanical issues, ratings on performance, etc. Anything is appreciated. Thanks!
Open Question: 1999-2000 Civic Si vs 1994-2001 Integra GS-R?
I’m looking into getting a newer car pretty soon, and have narrowed my options to these two.
There seems to be a general prejudice to Civics but less of a prejudice towards Integras. Why? During these model years the specs and performance seems nearly identical. I would tend to lean more towards the Civic just because I think it looks a little better (in my humble opinion). But which one would be a better car?
The main things I’m looking for in a car:
1. Stick shift.
2. Decently quick (apparently I can’t call these cars fast, haha).
3. Good gas mileage (a big consideration).
4. Reliable.
5. Inexpensive price and upkeep.
6. Decent size for carrying extra people if I need to.
Now guys, I’m not planning on modding anything, and I’m not looking for a race car (but compared to my ’92 civic DX these will be CRAZY fast, haha). Also, would I have a problem fitting into an Integra since I’m 6’3”?
Integra GS-Rs do seem generally cheaper than the Civic Si though, so that could be a big factor. Out of curiosity, how many miles would a car have before I would worry about reliability? Would 130,000 still be a viable option? And what year Integra would be the best due to Insurance and features.
Open Question: What should I do? swap engine into current old car or buy newer car?
should I swap a higher performance engine (ie. 4age, sr20, ca18 (turbo or non turbo)) into my 1975/76 Chrysler Galant (link to video of an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7uPSotIhso )and gradually built it up and work on it as I earn money. Will probably cost $5000-$10000 to get it perfect (lots of custom stuff and parts from other newer cars modified to work)
OR
just I save up $6000-$20000 for a Silvia/Skyline and pay high insurance and just follow the usual that everyone else does
keep in mind the car will be for DRIFT and DAILY-DRIVE purposes
ANY ADVICE is welcome…so please post something
just to make things clear…
my car’s current engine is broke and not really modifiable, and it’s open differential destroys any hope the 70kw have of overpowering the diff for drifting
and a Silvia/Skyline isn’t new, it’s newer than my 33 year old car, i can get them for the price i said
and it will actually cost $4000-$8000 to upgrade my current car
please any opinions/ideas are welcome
mr. answers,
what European car is relatively inexpensive and as good for drifting as any Japanese performance car?
the question is a one or the other choice, everything else has been considered then ditched
