Resolved Question: Monetary Policy questions. Please Help!?
1. If the Fed requires banks to increase the fraction of deposits that they hold as reserves, will this raise or lower the money supply? Will it raise or lower the money multiplier?
2. When the Fed purchases $1 million worth of government bonds on the open market, what happens to the money supply?
3. Suppose banks are required to hold 50 percent of their deposits as reserves. What would be the impact on the money supply if the Fed then purchased $10 million worth of Treasury bills? (Assume there are not “leakages” into currency or excess reserves).
4. How is the money multiplier affected if:
A. banks start keeping a larger fraction of new deposits as reserves?
B. individuals start to keep more cash at home or on their persons.
C. individuals put more cash in their safe deposit boxes at their banks.
5. If a bank has no excess reserves on hand, and receives no new deposits, how can it make any new loans?
6. If half of a bank’s customers convert their checking accounts into six-month certificates of deposit, what happens to the bank’s reserve requirement? Can it make any new loans?
7. What interest rate – Federal funds rate or discount rate is applicable if a bank:
A. borrows reserves from a regional Federal Reserve bank?
B. borrows reserves overnight from another regular bank?
8. Could much higher reserve requirements, such as 50 percent, reduce the need for a lender of last resort? Explain.

9. Are the following examples of adverse selection or moral hazard?
A. Accident-prone drivers with the worst driving record are more willing than other drivers to pay high insurance premiums.
B. Because you have insurance, you are more likely to leave your pull-out stereo in the car than a person with no insurance.
C. Because your deposits are insured, you have little incentive to monitor what your bank is doing with your money, and so will simply choose the bank offering the highest interest rate on deposits.
D. If an insurance company sets its health insurance premiums very high, it will lose its healthiest customers.
10. Does a government bailout of bankrupt banks prevent the occurrence of losses? Explain.

Voting Question: What do you think? Is this a scam?
am selling my car on Craigslist and I recieved an email which I will post below. Do you think this is a serious car customer or someone just trying to promote that website.. I never posted the VIN # so how could he get an insurance rate??

Hi was just interested in your 2004 chevrolet cavalier, if you could give me some more info on it that would be great. Was the previous owner a smoker ? Was there ever any animals in the vehicle, i have bad allergies is why I ask. If im correct on the vehicle type, when i go to get insurance at 2insure4less they are telling me it would only be $35 per month for full coverage. Seems pretty low if you ask me, could you by chance since you have that VIN thing, see what it would be per month for you? cause i think im entering the wrong information. Well regarless i would love to come take a look at it sometime in the next few days if you still have it and have time to show it to me? Please just let me know when i can come take a look.
