Open Question: What do i need at the DMV to get a salvage title for my car?
I’m going to get a salvage title for my car which was recently in a fender bender. the overall repair costs, was more than the value of the car. so the insurance company offered to just give us the trade in value money and just keep the car. but in order to get the money i need to register it at the dmv(california) under a salvage title.
in order to save me time, what do i need to get a salvage title for my car at the dmv?
the lines are long and the people there are really unprofessional. it would be nice to know in advance what i need. i.e. insurance info, proof of insurance, pink slip, 2 forms of ID, etc..
also, since it is my dad’s car and his insurance(which i am under), does he have to come or can i go alone? ty
Open Question: Is my Auto Title void if the error wasn’t even in the right place?
I recently bought a car and whole I was in the presence of the previous owner, he accidentally signed his name in the wrong location. Then, after scribbling it out, I noticed and asked him if the title was void now. He replied “no, that’s not what they need you’ll be fine.” He mentioned he had a friend of the registry and if there was any problems, to call him again. I took his word for it but now that I’ve done some research, I may be screwed. I heard somewhere that I can get him to write a paper of error and sign it stating that he was the one who erred on the title? I live in MA so please, tell me if this is possible! I really don’t want to have to go through the hassle of acquiring a new title when I’m already paying for my insurance.
