my credit isent really bad just poor and my brother does not have much history or he would cosign. im looking to finance a used motorcycle and before anyone jumps and says i should not finance a toy its not. i have a car but may end up selling it cause i got a dwi but it has not gone to court there is a good chance it will be dropped but if it does not my insurance will sky rocket but it wont on a motorcycle and anything i finance under 10k on a bike does not have to have full coverage. also gas will be way cheaper. i have 2 good jobs and know i can afford it i have some to put down looking for about 4,500. any ideas ?

I went to a bar in upstate ny to see a friend’s band play. I was drinking at the bar, so I decided to stay at a friend’s house down the road (walk there obviously). Someone I thought was my friend took my car to go home ( I left the keys in the ignition ). I know I’m a dumb ass for leaving the keys in the car, don’t flame me for that please. Anyways this guy got pulled over by the cops and got a dwi. The car was legally parked when they pulled him over so it didn’t get impounded. My question is will my insurance go up? I wasn’t driving the car and this guy had no license or any kind of insurance whatsoever. He was also under 21 if that helps and no I didn’t report the car stolen. But when the cops questioned him he just told them he took the car.

OK, my brother rented a car, took the insurance, but left the keys where his younger girlfriend got to them and she drove the car, technically without his permission. She is under 21, so she was not put on the rental agreement. During her joy ride, she had an accident and was arrested for DUI and DWI among the following: FAILURE TO DRIVE RIGHT OF CENTER, FAIL TO DISPLAY LICENSE ON DEMAND, (DRIVING, ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE) VEH. WHILE IMPAIRED BY CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE….
So with the police report my brother gave his insurance info and paid the rental company 350 for towing and misc fees, and 500 which is our deductible. The claim was just made by the rental company, since she was not on the rental agreement but took the car without permission, will insurance cover the loss, which is around 10,000 dollars. We have never made it “clear” that she took the car without permission as we didn’t want her to get in more trouble than she was already in.
So insurance agents, what the chance GEICO will cover this loss…..and what can we do to fight it. I rather pay more per month, then 10K.
