Resolved Question: Do U see anything wrong with driver checkpoints six cars driven by illegals are off the roads are the roads?
Eight drivers were cited for being unlicensed and seven vehicles were impounded during a checkpoint conducted Saturday night and early today by the Santa Maria Police Department.

Another motorist was cited for driving on a suspended license, but no DUI arrests resulted, according to police Cpt. Jesse Silva.

The checkpoint was set up in the 1300 block of South Broadway, and ran from 6 p.m. Saturday until 1 this morning.

Of the seven vehicles impounded, six were driven by illegal immigrant, Silva said.

More than 1,700 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Open Question: Buying a car but keeping the previous owner’s plates in his name?
Someone I work with does not have a valid license because of a DUI and no insurance. He purchased a car which is registered to him. I think the plates are still registered to the previous owner if that is possible. Besides obviously being illegal in many ways, does anyone know if that would make the previous owner liable, or what other consequence there would be?

Resolved Question: I’m afraid of being bullied by the city?
Without going into great detail I was a police officer in the state of ohio. I was involved in an accident where I was struck by a drunk driver, (I was not at fault and the idiot had no insurance and he was charged with 4 counts of DUI) The mayor terminated me because he was more pissed about the car then he was about my injuries.

He claimed I had 2 days left on my probation, so he has the right to fire me for any reason, (The chief advised him he was making a big mistake, but the mayor didn’t care what the chief had to say about the matter he forced the chief to terminate me and the Chief even went on record as saying he did not agree with what the mayor did.

(Fast forward to 1 year later) Official police dept. documentation was found, showing I had actually passed my probation and I now have full representation from the FOP police union attorney. A new mayor is in office now and wants to reinstate me with back pay. HOWEVER….during that year I lost everything, my house 2 cars and my credit is a train wreck now…..1 year of back pay is not going to solve all the damage this ASSHOLE caused…..

I obtained a civil attorney when all this 1st happened but now I really don’t need him in regards to the wrongful termination because I get free representation from the FOP….but the FOP can only speak on the employment issues…..not damages.

My attorney keeps telling me I can’t get damages from the city for all that Ive lost….is this true? Because if it is….I may as well hang myself now, because I’ll never be able to own anything ever again…

This Wednesday I have a meeting with the new mayor who took office in January, he called me last week and said that the old mayor obviously was wrong and he wants to reinstate me. The FOP rep will also be there. This meeting will be to discuss employment issues only, nothing about what I’m seeking civilly can be discussed. I really am afraid that the city is only going to offer reinstatement and back pay in return for dropping my civil suit…..my attorney is a spineless ass….I’ve been doing all the work. How can I show the city I’m not going to be a push over.
