Open Question: How to recover money for the police towing a car that was stolen?
Someone tried to steal my boyfriend’s car sometime during the middle of the night on Tuesday. It appears as though they pried up the door somehow and then tried to start the car, weren’t able to start it (and by the way the ignition needs to be replaced now), and the car rolled into the middle of the street. They left the car there, after helping themselves to about $100 worth of tools that he just bought. At some point later, the police saw the car in the middle of the road and had it towed.

When we woke up the next morning, the car was gone. After a lot of time on the phone with the police station, we finally tracked down the car and were able to file a stolen and recovery report. However, my boyfriend was still stuck with the towing fee of close to $300. The towing company gave him a small discount since it was stolen (it would have been around $350).

The police officer I spoke to said that my boyfriend’s insurance company should cover the towing fee, but he called the company and since he only has liability insurance it won’t cover the tow fee.

I guess my question is, is there any other way to get that money back from having his car towed? I’m just upset that some jerk decides they want to steal his car, steals $100 worth of tools from inside, ruins the ignition, leaves the car in the middle of the street, and now my boyfriend is stuck with paying for the $300 to have the car towed (plus costs to repair the car and replace the tools).

Oh and FYI – the cops didn’t try to look for fingerprints or anything – is that normal? AND the officer that he filed the report with also kept talking to my boyfriend like he just came home drunk and parked the car in the middle of the street on purpose, which is totally ridiculous.

Also, we live in the state of California if that makes a difference.

Open Question: Difficult situation with fake grades and car insurance! help!?
I’m about to be a Senior in High school and have been faking my grades for the past 2 years. When I get my report card, I scan it to the computer, digitally edit it to make it look like I have A’s and B’s, then give it to my parents. They get happy and even pay me hundreds of dollars for succeeding in school. When they ask how I’m doing in school and to, “Check my grades online”. I go online, screen print the actual page, and edit the grades so they appear as A’s and B’s. and play it off like that’s the real webpage, and those are my real grades.

I get away with it every time.

But now the time has come for me to be a driver. and I need to be insured. My parents have Geico as their car Insurance company. and there’s a discount for students who maintain a B average. my father said “Oh hey with your great grades you can get us a great discount on your insurance!” obviously, the insurance representatives will know a bullshit report card when they see one, and they can check my real grades through Parent-link, because they aren’t gullible and ignorant like my parents.

when my parents request to have the discount, the Insurance people will check the grades and say…

“Oh no, your son has D’s and F’s go fuck yourself”.

my parents will then discover I’ve been lieing to them and that i’ve been robbing them of their money for the past two years and I’ll go have to puss out and Off myself in the desert behind our home.

What the hell can I do so that My Parents don’t find out about my fake grades and I can still become an insured driver who can legally drive?
